(14,529 posts)They thought lying to congress was ok, as long as the R's were in power. They knew the republikkklans wouldn't do squat about it. They were told to create a narrative that fit Individual #1's story = conspiracy.

(27,800 posts)This is an awful side effect of having people in business run for office, and all the wild claims they make about treating government like a business. Government is by its definition not a business. People need to lose this notion that being a CEO of a company qualifies you for high office. In fact, it's practically the opposite.
And in the business world, you can often lie and get away with it. It might be dirty and unethical, but not always a crime.

(32,617 posts)Both are wrong and illegal, but the penalty for lying to the FBI is severe, swift and final. Lying to Congress, if they're lucky they might not get challenged on it. However their luck just changed on November 6th.
mercuryblues
(14,529 posts)and even I know lying to congress is a crime. You don't even have to be sworn in.
And with any law enforcement agency, lying is obstruction of justice, a crime. Just ask Martha Stewart.

(630 posts)Given the meticulous professionalism of Mueller and company, I wonder how much they might have known this all along. After all, Trump's people all seemed to be transparently corrupt and not really that competent (They've just gotten by on bravado, a willingness to break rules, and oodles of ill-gotten cash).
I figure that each indictment and release of information may not just tighten the screws on Trump, but cause his entire operation to explode, implode or otherwise breakdown.

Cascading failure
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to navigationJump to search
An animation demonstrating how a single failure may result in other failures throughout a network.
A cascading failure is a process in a system of interconnected parts in which the failure of one or few parts can trigger the failure of other parts and so on. Such a failure may happen in many types of systems, including power transmission, computer networking, finance, human body systems, and transportation systems.
