Once at the DMV when I had trouble registering a vehicle from a private sale. She held up the line, dialed my insurance company on her cell phone and had me use it to clear up the problem. She couldn't give me her full name because of rules, but I did write a letter to the DMV praising her help. The second time I was checking in for a flight to Europe for business and the guy traveling me (who stopped at every bar) went missing. This was JFK and a line stretched for miles and we would have missed our flight. The agent pulled me from the line and took me to the front. She saw that my partner would miss the flight and had me go back and find him. As I dragged him up to the counter, she had to yell at the security to let me back. I found out her name and wrote to British Air about how she was helpful. We made the flight just in time. He did go missing for a while at Heathrow but I found him at one of the bars in time to catch our next flight. A couple immigration agents were very helpful when returning to the US over the years but because of the lines I never got their names. If you can't write to the company, at least let the service person know how much you appreciate their extra help.
