They haven't managed to get together the last few times they've been in the same place. Now, Trump has claimed that he canceled a meet-up in Argentina with Putin.
Perhaps, instead, Putin is finished with Trump. He's squeezed all he can from him and is cutting him loose. Trump's no longer an asset to Putin. With all the problems Trump is facing here, Putin may have simply written him off as a loss.
Now, I don't know this with any certainty, but it would make sense. If Trump goes down in flames, Putin might get singed a little if he's too close when it happens.
Does that seem logical to anyone else?

(12,265 posts)I don't think Putin worries about getting singed, but he doesn't waste his time of people or things that don't benefit him.

(146,248 posts)I think Trump should worry about being forced out of office. Putin knows things, and is pretty savvy about putting things together. Evil man though he is, he's not stupid. It's interesting to consider.

(3,426 posts)If you were to think in depth about it, wouldn't one surmise that the Russians have a complete psychological work up on Trump (profile) with specific detail on the predictability of Trump. Putin was carefully groomed. Yes evil. Imagine.

He can't be perceived as weak... so NO I BROKE UP WITH HIM! NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!

(17,984 posts)The only reason I could think of for Rump cancelling on Putin was because he feared the optics. Then I thought, "When was the last time Rump cared about optics?"

(2,556 posts)Isn't the old Tsarist palace near Archangelsk vacant since the Revolution? Isolated, miles from anywhere. It would serve the Trumps as well as it did the Tsar and his family. They spent the rest of their lives there.

(13,877 posts)I agree that he's used him for all he can get. Trump is trapped...can't help him scam the US elections any more, probably won't even see his term out.
The one thing The Cretin fears the most...irrelevancy. Nobody looking, waving, bowing, taking photos, asking favors, etc. Just no one cares. I don't think that is too far away.

(4,265 posts)I'm sure they've arranged other means of communication and this is just the way the "administration" is pretending to be concerned about the russia-Ukraine situation.
There's still a ton of damage to do to benefit Putin and russia in my opinion.

He wants to gut the US the way he did Russia, and take all the spoils. He needs Trump to do it.

Dump is still useful to them in main goal of this gambit...the breakup of the United States.
