Pence is Manafort's guy.

We have heard NOTHING to date dragging Pence into the crimes. That does not mean he is not up to his eyeballs in it. He led the transition. He was in the room when many campaign decisions were made. Why did Manafort want him on the ticket instead of Chris Christie?

If Mueller is tracking the misdeeds that occurred during the campaign and the transition, Pence MUST be in the loop as well.

So...a little wild speculation here:

IF the investigation drags the VEEP into the mess, the Republicans have a consequential decision to make...and the have to make it VERY SOON. The crimes are approaching the High Crimes and Misdemeanors test, and they could turn GOP Senators against them in an act of self-preservation.

Would they risk criminal charges and impeachment of both Trump and Pence if the result was President Pelosi? If the big money in the party and Putin want to cut their losses, they may decide that they would rather have President Ryan. They could compel resignations if the situation becomes untenable. A party that could hold Scalia's seat open for a year is capable of anything.

Am I out of my mind?

and pence was involved as well, I think the repubs would go to the Dems and cut a deal. Ride it out until 2020, give in on things like immigration bills or whatever.

Thing is, look how quiet pence is. Where in the hell is he? He's riding it out very quietly and staying as far away as possible in hopes that it doesn't snag him.

Even if tRump doesn't run in 2020 there's no way pence could hope to win because these scandals will be a noose around his neck even if by some stretch of the imagination he's completely innocent. His political career is screwed. He can't jump the tRump sinking ship and he can't win in 2020.

Manafort probably picked Pence because Pence was an obvious choice to shore up Trump's credibility with the deranged Jesusist wing of the party; I doubt Pence was in on the machinations of the campaign with Wikileaks and Russia. Any Republican, whether Pence or someone else, who became president if Trump resigned ahead of looming impeachment would be an automatic lame duck with a Democratic House limiting the damage he could do and would be very unlikely to be re-elected.
