If it wasn't the rape charge against Assange, it would have been something else.

I remember when Wikileaks and Assange first arrived on the scene, members on this board would say---stay safe Mr. Assange.

Hell---the kind of ruckus he was causing made us all worry about the dude's well-being.

I was not a bit surprised that these charges were leveled at him.

Sorry---but I find this all to convenient and predictable.

I have thought the same thing the whole time. Maybe he's better off with rape charges, kiddie porn can always be found (placed) on a computer that someone swears is yours..........

And the behavior of various authorities in the matter makes it very clear this is simply pre-text to get him into U.S. hands....

Perhaps you saw Cenk Uygur's rant about this yesterday:

http://current.com/shows/the-young-turks/videos/cenk-wikileaks-julian-assange-should-be-your-hero

Cenk nails it. He also says that if the US govt. doesn't want their war crimes publicized they should stop committing them. (paraphrased)

Obama wants Assange so bad he can hardly stand it. Why? What's done is done as far as what's already been disclosed, and the world didn't come to an end. Is it possible that Obama knows of something even worse that someone might drop in the lap of Wikileaks?

Gotta shut Assange up. And they're rabid about it!

I'd like to thank Mr. Transparency for his efforts.

P.S. A lot of posters on this board don't seem to care, anymore, about the safety of Mr. Assange. I wonder why.

If not, then I apologize. I honestly don't want to draw someone into a conversation that gets them tombstoned. I find myself drawing lines in the sand, too.

BTW, when I said 'I wonder why', I was speaking ironically.

5. Maybe it would have been whatever law says that the information is not to be leaked?

But after the Ellsberg case, that's not a crime. Bradley only is the one who will be tried for it.

What is it about this guy that he can create such delusion? The US obviously doesn't give a rat's ass about him at this point. This is pure fact. Why buy into all that drama?

If Julian were sincere and serious he would go to Sweden and clear up the charges and then find someone other than Bradley to leak our documents again. If we were really so evil. Now he's making it all about himself. He's pathetic.

7. Wrong, the celebrity-chasing media is making it all about him.

There are all kinds of far reaching abuses that can be discussed regarding the leaks. Serious policy issues like US involvement in child-sex trafficking, US involvement in tossing foreign elections, US involvement in public deception, the list goes on. The media could be talking about all of these things. Important things. Except it's all Assange, all the time. Although, I am sure once he's in jail, they will get right on discussing these topics.

You are right about one thing, it is pathetic.

rather than talking about how "persecuted" he is. I don't see much discussion on those cables and also don't think the US is guilty until proven innocent, either.

of undermining Obama, suppressing the vote, advancing right wing talking points, and most likely smeared as a troll.

Just laying low until after the election.

Unless you think they were forged, there is no dispute. All those issues received threads here and I posted in them. Where were you?

"don't think the US is guilty until proven innocent, either." - haha who is going to take the US to court, the ICC? And what army will play the role of the executive? The US will skirt justice until it no longer has the strongest military in the world, just like every other superpower in history. Unless it's own citizens stand up and demand justice. We can only hope.

I find it disgusting that people here are actually cheerleading for this persecution, and calling anyone who defends Assange a "misogynist", just like anyone who dares to criticize Israel's oppression of the Palestinians is labeled "anti-Semitic."

Makes me wonder if they're here posting their own opinions, or if they're paid to promote someone else's...
