Which means if women have abortions essentially, commit murder under this new bill they could spend the rest of their lives in prison.
Any person who commits any assault and battery upon another, including an unborn child shall upon conviction be guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment in the State Penitentiary not exceeding life.
The irony here is that church pews would empty out pretty quickly if this law ever came to pass
Silk tried passing a similar bill two years ago. In that one, doctors who performed the procedure would have been charged with first degree murder. It thankfully failed. But a guy who wants to punish women this badly isnt going to stop just because he didnt get his way the first time around.
This is what happens when you vote for Republicans. Its forced pregnancy for women, with no exceptions for rape or incest. Its cruel. Its torture. Its the culmination of the warped logic that equates a minute-old fertilized egg with a full-grown adult. Its ignorance wrapped in conservative rhetoric, and women would suffer as a result.
Lets hope this bill meets the same fate as Silks previous one.

(58,785 posts)Our high courts are being stuffed with people who similarly believe the constitution does not provide any "right to privacy" from government interference in our reproductive decisions (and many others).
Read it from end to end, you won't find it either. What one court chose to infer from phrases here and there another can un-infer. That's a big part of what Gorsuch and Kavanaugh were installed to do.

(10,952 posts)would not vote to pass in Oklahoma. And, when it does pass and gets enacted into law, the OK State AG will then waste taxpayer money to defend it in the inevitable lawsuit.

(82,849 posts)How about life in prison for the man who got the woman pregnant? And if he needed viagra or cialis to do the deed, how about life in prison for his doctor and pharmacist? When are you going to get truly serious about abolishing abortion, instead of being such a lukewarm namby-pamby soft on crime wimp? You know what the Bible says about being neither hot nor cold.
