Unbelievable. Some naive, college, white women are still trumpers.

Below is an excerpt from a "Vanity Fair" article that gives us an insight into their sheltered thinking.

She grew up in a Republican household. “When I was little,” she said, “I would sit with my grandfather on Saturday mornings and we would watch Fox News and he would say, ‘Never trust anybody that trusts a Clinton,’ and I still remember that.” So when Donald Trump came along with his chants of “Lock her up,” this resonated with her, as did Trump’s financial success. “He made very smart business decisions,” Maggie said, “and you would hope that he would hone in on these skills to build up this country.”

She didn’t believe Trump was a racist, she said: “I think [his racist comments are] a mix of what he actually feels and political theater. Being a businessman, I think, he knows how to sell something, so he’s trying to create this brand, because he knows if he keeps saying these things, people will keep watching and wondering what is he going to do next and that will intrigue some to vote for him.” Someone like her.

And the words are just clueless attempts to justify what they don't understand about themselves and never will. The why of their choices has nothing to do with their rationalizations. They're typically profoundly lacking in self awareness, though with help they can come to realize when what they're doing is wrong and want to change. They can also be remarkably improved if the group they identify with comes under a better leader.

I know several of these educated Trump women.

To a one, they are ANGRY. Their anger is so constant and unfocused, it really seems more like a personality trait than a reaction to anything specific. They feel like they have been cheated somehow of what they think they deserve. (Three of them have very nice, bland husbands, who are probably the only ones who can put up with the constant anger).

They seem most angry at institutions which don't give them what they want-- their kids' school system which expects them to pay for textbooks and supplies (though obviously - to the rest of this-- this is because the conservative state legislature won't properly fund schools-- these women, however, act like this is a personal affront that the particular school is making on them specifically). Or their employer who won't pay them overtime, and somehow that is the fault of unions (even though they're a lawyer and there is no union involved).

Most of what they're angry about would probably be helped by liberal policies, but that's not important to them-- 1) they blame liberals for... uh, not doing enough? Helping all people but not them in particular? 2) If what they're angry about is fixed, they'd just find something else to be angry about.

I had a long talk-- well, long LISTEN-- I didn't say much- with two of these women recently, and I realized that first, they take EVERYTHING personally, and also, they are angry not just with government but with their husbands, their families, their kids. They're just angry, and they hold grudges forever. Say my birthday card to them arrives late. They're angry. I apologize profusely (stupid me). Months later, they're still angry, even though the birthday card in fact arrived, and I've already apologized.

It's not that they support Trump's policies or anything. It's that Trump is THEM-- irrational, angry, self-obsessed, quick to feel cheated, and grudge-holding.

They can't dislike anything Trump does, because that's how they would like to be. They'd like to force everyone else to pay attention to them and be afraid of upsetting them. They want to be Trump. Nothing any progressive or Democrat could do would help, because it's not about policy or governance-- it's all personality.

Great post! Very interesting perspective. I think you are on to something. I know some women like this as well, and when I think of what they have in common - you are right - they are angry, judgmental, irrational and quick to blame others for their own shortcomings. Also, most of them just aren't very bright. They never really think anything through.

Who thought that if she woke up at 3 am and got a drink of water that the devil is up at that hour and would get her. So she would just stay in bed until it wasn't "The Devil's Hour".

Then she said, regarding politics, "If it doesn't effect me or my kids, I don't care."

I meet a LOT of women like that here. Some are college educated some are not.

And I really think that they would be better off, happier and more well adapted in a pre-industrial society, where they had a skill - they had a home and they were not asked to worry beyond that. They would be less angry and stressed.

Many humans, of any gender have not evolved as quickly as our technology and it's demands upon them.

People talk about Oprah for President. I think she would help the world most by bringing back her show.

Pardon my language but it is true. My father, uncle and their parents were life long Republicans, and were all very politically active and outspoken. My mother's side are conservative Democrats, but my dad's side were far more vocal about it.Yet here I am, a liberal. All it took to begin transitioning out of that right wing mindset was a high school civics course, where I actually began learning what each party stands for.

She clearly got the poison in her veins and has done nothing to educate herself so that she isn't racist. Because Fox News is White Supremacist Channel 24-7 even though they hire a few "tokens."

That show was completely scripted and told Trump what to do and say. So basically they made him look strong when he wasn’t, just another propaganda for the future.

More fake when a lot of people me included thought he was making the decisions on the show.

It needs to get out in the public that he was just a actor puppet for the show then maybe so many wouldn’t believe in him.

I witness this type of thing and consequently I never fool myself regarding the Republican Party going away, or defeating Trump by landslide.

Two weeks ago I attended an LPGA tournament in Naples. That is always awkward because those are heavy red counties -- Collier and Lee -- plus golf skews conservative to begin with. I am always hearing comments in the gallery or the shuttle bus.

This year on Thursday I saw an elderly couple in the grandstands with the man wearing a MAGA hat. Two days later I saw them with obviously a daughter, son-in-law and two children. Grandpa was still wearing the MAGA hat. I can just imagine what that daughter heard all her life regarding politics, and little doubt she married that way and it will be passed down to her children.

One percent here and there is fine. Get rid of the landslide nonsense. That is not the real world.

I did this to my cousin and she kept imploring me..."What do you mean, I'm too ignorant?" I just walked away shaking my head. She kept after me, "what do you mean?" I just said, let's change the subject and walked away again.

I bothered her all through their visit with us but I wouldn't give her the satisfaction of saying another word about it. I just know she is going to search out some stuff on her own. Most people with a modicum of brains do not like to be told they are ignorant. Not arguing or trying to persuade her further has piqued her interest more than trying to convince her myself. I just acted like I know something she doesn't know and that was maddening to her.
