(4,149 posts)We cannot afford to have an inexperienced Speaker of the House right now, as the stakes are WAY too fucking high. We need an experienced legislator who KNOWS how to successfully fuck with Republicans, and she DOES.
I am all for making way for a new generation, but not quite yet. . .

(37,648 posts)The Speaker of the House doesn't normally design plans all on her/his own. They get the brains and committees together and dish, and together come up with a viable plan, each person contributing according to his ideas and expertise. Or someone brings a bill or idea to the Speaker, who decides whether to put it forward.
Each house of Congress is a collaborative effort. But the Speaker makes the final call, and gives input herself/himself.

(1,003 posts)It was blindingly obvious that the Dems would be doing this, once Trump instructed White House officials to ignore Congressional subpoenas, and when the Dems came to take over committee Chairmanships for Judiciary, Intelligence and Oversight and Reform. Since the Dems did it a decade ago, White House lawyers would have known this would be happening
