(CNN)A police officer who claimed she killed a Dallas man in his own apartment in the mistaken belief that he was in her home was indicted Friday on a murder charge, authorities said.
The indictment of Amber Guyger comes more than two months after she was arrested in the shooting death of Botham Shem Jean at the Dallas apartment complex where both lived -- a killing that sparked days of protests.
Guyger was arrested after the September shooting and charged with manslaughter by the Texas Rangers, the lead investigative agency, Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson said at a news conference.
When asked why the grand jury indicted Guyger on the more serious offense of murder, Johnson replied, "We presented the evidence and we explained the law."

(6,831 posts)The evidence against her is so overwhelming. She changed her story repeatedly that night and each version she gave clashes with what witnesses heard and saw.
She said that she was "disoriented." No, she had been drinking.
That she "confused" his apartment for hers is the first red flag. He had a doormat and some flowers outside his door. How does one make that mistake ?
She claimed that his door was ajar. According to friends and family, Botham Jean was scrupulous about locking his doors at all times. Then she said she put her key in the door and it opened (which management said is impossible). Well, which is it ?
She claimed that the lights were out. Why on earth would he have his door "ajar" with all the lights out late at night ?
She said that she issued two verbal commands, then when he didn't comply, she fired. Witnesses said that she shot him within seconds of the breach.
She has lied repeatedly throughout this entire ordeal.
I am sick of unarmed Black men being shot by cops and getting away with murder. I hope she gets the maximum penalty.

When it first happened I was reading all about it. But, I didn't know about the "drinking".. although, many of us were speculating just so when they were sparse on details. So the toxicology report finally came back?
Wonder what the real reason Guyger was up on the next floor shooting Bo Jean to death?
