One of the things that distiunguishes Democrats from the GOP:

We should and must fight back when the GOP attempts to rewrite history.

I wrote a post calling Bush Sr a racist, lying traitor. And that is exactly what he was. So, why should we ignore what he was while the US corporate media makes the racist lying traitor into a saint?

That is how the GOP rewrites history.

They did it for Reagan when that racist lying traitor died, and they will do it now that Bush Sr has died.

And they will do it when Bush Jr. and Dick Cheney die.

And we are having a fucking RAVE on his grave! Apparently any evil asshole can be forgiven just because he isn't as bad as Trump, a very LOW bar indeed.

I think it is sometimes a really fine line.

No one knows how to bastardize history like that of the media, elected officials, and the citizenry after the death of a President. It is truly a week or two of rewriting history. Purposeful omission is as good as a lie. I call it a fine line because many grave pissers do the exact same thing, just from a different angle.

Then again, the only reason I smiled when Osama was killed was because of who got to announce it. The smile was not long lived. I simply have a difficult time smiling or pissing on death.

Truly well said.

These people have to be remembered properly. What this man did in Iraq had a huge role in setting the stage for his son and the deaths and injury of a lot of people.

Even President Obama, while being polite, does us no favor when he ignores what the Bush family really is.

And this rewriting of the record is one reason that many voters know so little about actual history.

McCain was NEVER a friend to the poor or downtrodden, never some kind of secret Democrat, was always an incredible hypocrite who was only interested in himself.

But a celebrity or politician dies and, no matter how awful the individual was, we're subjected to days of fawning.

Just look at the type of legislation that was supported by George H.W. Bush or John McCain, and tell me those weren't horrible people.
