for the next year. Hours and hours over a hot stove. A bale of snow spread out on the kitchen counter, the pressure cooker whistling...ahhh, what memories!

So when you wanted it, all you did was add water.....

I remember big PILES of the stuff on the rack, just waiting to be dried.

She would can it, and when you needed some, you opened the can and held a glass upside down above it, so the Hydrogen would flow up into the glass, combine with the Oxygen in the air and Voila! Instant water.

Not funny stuff--my son-in-law's parents live in Palmer, Alaska, about 30
north of the epicenter. When I heard about the quake (here on DU of course),
I called them. No answer. So I texted and was told that they were OK but the
house was a mess. She said everything in house was on the floor, no power and
no road to Anchorage. Power is back up now and a road in and out is open.
Lots of clean up to do.

I don't know. I hear that's what people say. But it's simple. Alaskans who are tired of snow should get memberships at Mar-a-Lago. That's what I think. Why not? We don't have snow there. We didn't put it in a snowy place."
