The law won 56 percent support from voters at the polls on Nov. 6, but Republican lawmakers are trying to impose some limits
Starting next Thursday, when recreational marijuana becomes legal in Michigan, anyone age 21 and older can grow up to 12 plants in their home for their own use.
They also can carry up to 10 grams of marijuana on them in public and give away 2.5 grams without receiving any payment in return.
However, Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhoff, a Republican from Ottawa County, just introduced a bill that wouldn't allow home grows.

(35,619 posts)MN doesnt have citizen-initiated ballot measures at the state level, unfortunately.
The MN legislature can put something on the ballot to avoid a veto. Usually, it doesnt.

(10,037 posts)Ummm... You received that input on 11/6/2018.
Benjamin Horner, the current owner of Michigan Organic Solutions, which is Flint's first medical marihuana dispensary, agrees 12 plants grown in homes might be too much.
Nope, no conflict there.

(7,533 posts)That's their modus operandi...buy up all the seed stocks until you control the market, patent your own seed-stocks and then prosecute anyone that won't cooperate. Maybe I'm going out on a ledge, but I believe the push is towards outlawing home-grown.

(35,619 posts)..and can be changed by the lame duck legislature.
It would make more sense if ballot measures couldnt be changed by the lame duck legislature, and went into effect in March at the earliest in case the next legislature wants to act.

(2,728 posts)"Smart" Republicans have seen the money in marijuana trade and want to force consumers to businesses. The only true freedom for marijuana is to allow untaxed home growing. I don't want to support some aspiring Philip Morris if I want to consume marijuana.
