During testimony, Don Jr. asserted privilege... father-son-privilege. That does not exist.

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/12/watch-judiciary-democrat-reveals-trumps-son-invented-new-legal-theory-testimony-congress/

“There’s some questions about the communications with his father and about the meeting at Trump Tower,” O’Donnell noted. “Do you believe Donald Trump, Jr. lied to your committee?”

“I think he showed a consciousness of guilt, when he was asked about conversations he had with his father, whether on not he told his father about that meeting he took where the Russians were offering dirt on Hillary Clinton,” Swalwell replied.

“He told us he’s not going to answer any questions with his father, asserting a father-son privilege,” he explained. “Which is privileged privilege — only something that the Trumps could create.”

“I think innocent people would have been straight with us, Don Jr. didn’t want to be straight,” he concluded. “Bob Mueller will know the answer to that.”

4. I've heard of privilege between client-attorney, doctor-patient, psychologist-client,

clergy-worshipper, even presidential privilege (although not the way Republicans use it*). (Obviously there are exceptions, as when the client reveals he is going to hurt someone or himself.) Even wives have the right not to testify against their husbands. (Ex-wives can, however -- the legal term is "revenge.&quot )

I have never heard of father-son privilege or Trump-Trump privilege. Since Donnie Two Scoops hadn't even been elected yet, there's no privilege to be asserted, and Don Jr. is fair game--or he'll face jail time for contempt or court if he refuses to answer.

* Presidential privilege can only be asserted by the president to protect confidential conversations with advisers. The way the Repukes have done it has been to have the witness claim the privilege on their own accord. Hopefully the Dems will call them on this.

to testify against her. The putrid cons didn't give a crap about that. This isn't about something that occurred while he's been infesting the oval office so there is ZERO privilege anywhere here. The Democrats should haul him in front of a committee on January 2.

12. Jeff Sessions has claimed Executive Privilege on Trump's behalf.

When Sessions was questioned, he said that he cannot answer this or that question because Trump may or may not claim Executive Privilege on that topic at some point in the future.

And they let him get away with it.

Have Jr. adopted by someone else, terminating Don's parentage. Then, divorce Melanoma, marry Jr., and claim spousal privilege.

8. I wonder if Donald discussed that scenario with Michael Cohen.

At this point I don't think anyone would be shocked if he entertained something like that, which is why they're going to believe anything Cohen says. Trump has shown the world that he really doesn't have anything resembling a conscience.

16. If he had married Cohen, he would have been in better shape.

Instead of models, Trump should have married lawyers. As much as Trump flouts the law, you'd think he would have better cover for his activities. It looks like Trump just isn't all that smart, despite his huge brain. If he had given it much thought, he never would have run for President. Presidents get scrutinized like no one else. Anyone with such a checkered past as Donald should have the sense to stay away from such a high office. He could have lived the rest of his life without dealing with all his dirty laundry if he had chosen to remain a private citizen enjoy his wealth. I saw all of this coming during the 2016 election. Why couldn't he see it, and why could his lawyers and other advisors not see it?

17. Swalwell is correct. Innocent people don't obstruct like this.

If you’re REALLY innocent then you welcome any investigation and want it to take its course because you know it’ll back you up. You don’t try to move heaven and earth to block, interfere, obstruct, influence potential witnesses, muddy the waters, try to manipulate perception and/or public opinion.

Seems to me what we’re seeing him do here is exactly the kind of things he undoubtedly did in Manhattan from his little “family business” fiefdom, over decades. Tactics learned at ultimate scumbag Roy Cohn’s knee and then applied liberally to get himself out of a never-ending stream of legal jams.

Ask yourself this: WHY would somebody want a Roy Cohn type on their payroll? WHY would someone need “fixer” types who were there to do the dirty work YOU wanted done or felt you needed, to tilt the playing field so you could win? So YOU could at least maintain the appearance of distance from the dirty messes YOU created or set in motion.

As crooked as a northern winter night is long.

trump is NOT acting like someone who’s innocent. Michael Avenatti put it best: “those who have nothing to hide hide nothing.”
