Washington (CNN) Special counsel Robert Mueller told a federal court Tuesday that former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn has given "substantial assistance" to the Russia investigation and should not get jail time.
Flynn has sat for 19 interviews with the special counsel and other Justice Department offices, and his early cooperation gave prosecutors a road map for their Russia investigation and may have helped to encourage others to cooperate, the filing states.

(17,984 posts)Could this be a scare tactic? To what end? Is it even remotely possible that Flynn's crimes were not as bad as we thought?

(13,883 posts)Flynn flipped and became a mole for the FBI and Mueller... On Rachels show she mentioned that with Flynns knowledge of intelligence practices he MUST have known he was being recorded talking to the Russians... He tells them not to worry. Could he have been laying the ground work for credibility with the transition team and Russians??
Why would Mueller ask the court to give Flynn the most lenient punishment? If Muller dangled a extremely light sentence to become a mole would Flynn have taken it?
If tRump is dangling pardons could Mueller be dangling "light to zero time" to others so he can get their cooperation on the investigation?? That is my thinking about why Mueller is putting out the sentencing guidelines so early and not at the end of the investigation.. And such glowing praise of Flynn also... Sounds gratuitous to make sure the Judge will give him zero time...
YMMV
