Everyone looks better when compared to that sociopathic, unempathetic, soulless piece of shit, even a man who was previously considered the worst president of all time just a few short years ago.
But I am still not about to forget that thousands of people are needlessly dead because of him. That is the man's terrible legacy and what he will be and should be most remembered for.

We might need to stop thinking of "human" as advanced or anything.

(43,172 posts)The thing about Dubya is that if he had never so much as sniffed the Presidency....if he were, say, my next door neighbor as opposed to someone who once held the most powerful office in the land, he'd be fine. I don't see myself being best friends with him, but I could see myself engaging in friendly neighborly small talk and such. (And that's not necessarily something I'll attribute to all the Bushes, mind you. Jeb has always struck me as a pompous jerk.)
Problem is, you can't divorce Citizen George W. Bush from President George W. Bush. The legacy of Iraq and condoning the use of torture is something that I can't excuse away from him. Even if those was more of sins of omission on his part--people like Cheney and Rumsfeld were the ones pushing those things, and Bush just lazily rubber stamped them--it's going to forever be a bloody stain on his legacy.
But unlike Trump, you can say he is an actual human being. A rather unsophisticated human being who should never have been President, but a human being nonetheless.
Trump is just....non-functional in ever single respect.
