The icy cold, rancid smelling chill felt around the world

Chris Wallace: A ‘Chill’ Struck the Front Row When Trump Encountered the Obamas, Clintons at Bush Funeral

Fox News’ Chris Wallace noticed that things got really tense at George H.W. Bush‘s funeral when Donald Trump and Melania Trump took their seats next to the Obamas and the Clintons.

The president and the first lady sat next to their predecessors in the front row of the National Cathedral today, and there was a tangible awkwardness in that moments. The Trumps and the Clintons seemed to prefer barely acknowledging each other, and greetings with the Obamas didn’t seem particularly enthusiastic either — though they did shake hands.

Wallace, speaking with Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum at the end of the service, remarked that a lot of bitterness clearly remains between Trump and his fellow presidents.

“I was struck when President Trump and Melania Trump came to the front row, that it was as if a chill had descended on that front row,” Wallace said. “When Donald Trump sat down, the greeting that he was given by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama was about as cool as it could have been. It seemed like they exchanged ‘hello, good morning.’ That was it. At that point they all stopped talking to each other.”

The Fox News Sunday anchor went on to say that these hostilities are the root of why Trump isn’t really part of the “Presidents’ Club” with the other Commanders-in-Chief.

In the video of the handshake, Michelle Obama pulls her hand away and then tugs a little on her jacket with the same hand. Doubtless he makes her skin crawl and she wiped off his clammy handshake as she did this. Before that, she'd had her fingers knotted together on her lap. As unapproachable as she could be to trump.

I saw a video of the interview, which was heartwarming, but can't find it.

Here's an article:

"I was worried about their safety," Shields Robinson said. "I was worried about my grandkids."

That worry inspired her to move to Washington, D.C., where Obama said her mother became a beloved figure in the White House. But that doesn't mean the move was easy at first.

"It was a huge adjustment. As a matter of fact, I had talked [the White House staff] into allowing me to do my own laundry," Shields Robinson said.

"She taught the girls how to do their laundry. They would go upstairs for laundry lessons," Obama said. "They learned how to use the machine."

The former Presidents are all gracious and statesmanlike, so of course they know how to behave at a solemn funeral. Only Cheeto doesn't fit - no grace, no statesmanship, no solemnity.

I give Dubya credit, he's handling this well, but I'll never like the guy.

Hence, the women. He was a very rich young man who didn't do well in friendships, and was always suspicious that someone wanted to be friendly because he was so rich. He was a ladies man from his teen years onward.

I don't know if that's true. But that's what he said.

The first person you might call a friend of Trump's was his mentor, Roy Cohn. A ruthless thug and attorney suppoedly connected to the mob, who trained Trump in the ways of protecting his brand, going after the jugular no matter how small the offense (in order to get the mob reputation of being someone to be afraid of and to set an example). Cohn was also the ugly little squirrel sitting next to McCarthy at the McCarthy hearings.

Cohn was dedicated to Trump, and would cross the room at a party in a flash if he saw Trump walk into the room. A young Roger Stone soon entered the picture, and all became collaborators in questionable practices. (Cohn was as crooked as they come.) That federal bench that Trump's sister judge got? Cohn got it for her.

But, Trump didn't have real friends. What Trump did not know about Cohn was that Cohn was gay. Trump found that out, when it became public near the end of Cohn's life that he was dying of AIDS. Trump never spoke to Cohn again, supposedly. Never went to see him while he was dying, even.

Near the end, what Cohn said of his longtime "friend" Trump was: “Donald pisses ice water.”
