racially motivated murder of a black teenager by a white man wearing a klan tee shirt and a MAGA cap while screaming obscenities and racial epithets. Imagine that reporters document an extensive prior history of KKK involvement and violence against people of color and a Twitter post just before the murder that the man was going to "strike a blow in defense of the white race!"
Now imagine that the local prosecutor refused to file any charges against the man clearly depicted in the videos, explaining that "Prosecution would be a waste of time and money. This is Mississippi. Everyone knows that racism flourishes here and that no jury is going to punish a white man just for killing a black kid. Further, an acquittal in this case would only encourage other racists to act out violently."
How would that situation make you feel?
Are there times when we must take certain actions simply because they are required by any concept of morality and decency?
Are there battles which must be fought because to avoid them is to shirk our responsibilities to our nation; to our children; to our selves?
Are there clear opportunities to stand on the right side of history that may present themselves only once in a lifetime?
Are we not responsible for our own moral decisions without regard to how others choose to act?
The situation I asked you to imagine at the beginning of this post is no more clear-cut than the factual reality of Trump's crimes and impeachable offenses. Failing to impeach him will, quite simply, amount to complicity and will encourage anyone without a sense of shame to flout the law with impunity.
I believe that's called anarchy.
We MUST impeach Trump.

(7,808 posts)His excuse for not bringing charges is insane. It sounds like he is the racist one, not some possible jury.

I thought it was a new report of something that happened recently.
For agent orange, it's called "Wednesday."
