Massachusetts church's nativity scene features infant Jesus in a cage, wise men separated by fence

The nativity scene, conceived by a church committee, also features the three wise men separated from the Holy Family by a fence. A sign reading, “Peace on Earth?” hangs above the display. “We thought we would kind of put a mirror image of what it would look like if this happened 2,000 years ago,” said Father Stephen Josoma. “It’s kind of a mirror image of where we are at today.”

Currently more than 100 children separated from parents at the southern border continue to remain in U.S. custody, as Trump administration continues to illegally block asylum seekers, who, like the Holy Family, also fled their homes to save their children’s lives. “Is this what peace on earth looks like?” Father Josoma asked. “It’s hard to say we are a people of peace when we are sending soldiers with tear gas to stop people.”

Just a little bit of genius right there. Of course the ones who need to see it would have to remove the planks from their eyes first

REALLY nice touch.

At my old parish church, one of the priests was an artist who set up the Nativity scene with a background of Skid Row.

Seriously thought-provoking.

The small garden fence makes the point, but is nothing compared to the glaring HID lights and concertina wire of the modern state 'security' apparatus.

Republicans would deport the whole family for immigration fraud or something.

On a related note, since Jesus was a European looking white guy, yet born in the Middle East, TSA officers need to be trained to "randomly select" people who look like the Jesus paintings in most American churches. Make it mandatory.

For those who don't know, Jesus often looks considerably darker in the churches in non-white countries.

but when I look at that minus the story I think they don't want anybody to steal Jesus. OK, so I'm from Philadelphia. People steal Jesus out of Nativitys around here.
