'He Doesn't Add Anything': Advisors Forcing Trump to Think About Dumping Pence

By DAVID BADASH DECEMBER 5, 20186:29 PM

Would Donald Trump replace Mike Pence? That's a question the president's advisors are trying to get him to answer. According to Vanity Fair's Gabriel Sherman (whose track record is excellent,) Trump hosted a 2020 strategy meeting on Monday. Pence was on the agenda.

Trump's advisors are "beginning to think about whether Mike Pence should be running again," a source told Sherman, saying polling shows the vice president "doesn’t add anything" to the ticket.

"Trump Ponders Jettisoning His Loyal V.P." reads a portion of Sherman's title.

The New York Times last month reported, as Sherman writes, that "Trump had been privately asking advisers if Pence could be trusted, and that outside advisers have been pushing Nikki Haley to replace Pence."

News broke on Wednesday also the the soon-to-be-former UN Ambassador will be selling her home in South Carolina and staying in New York City to write a book. A book is often a precursor to a presidential campaign run, although Haley promised to not run against Trump. She never said she would not run with him.

Well, he could replace him with a loyal dog. Although, I would feel extremely sorry for the dog.

I think Pence is as "loyal" as a rattlesnake is to its prey.

FWIW I'm pretty sure Pence thinks his God wants HIM to be president.

. . .the belief that Pence adds nothing to the ticket is likely accurate.

That doesn't change your statement, because the real problem is the top of the ticket.

So, the sentiment is accurate, but useless.

It would be suicide for Haley to run with Trump. Her political career will be over. I am surprised she is abandoning the possibility of state level positions in NC. Wasn't she talked about for Graham's Senate seat.

Well I guess Graham won't be the next Attorney General.

. . . not really. It seems like that's the main reason they chose him, but that ship has sailed. That crowd is all in with the moron in charge and Pence is no longer needed for that.

Pence is only "loyal" when in public. The fact that his family openly speaks of "God" preparing Pence to take over the presidency is among the things that has reached Trump's ears. What would be interesting to learn is how Ivanka and Jared feel about Pence.

As noted in a previous comment on this thread, Pence does help Trump with the republican religious alt-right.
