BEDMINSTER, N.J. During more than five years as a housekeeper at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., Victorina Morales has made Donald J. Trumps bed, cleaned his toilet and dusted his crystal golf trophies. When he visited as president, she was directed to wear a pin in the shape of the American flag adorned with a Secret Service logo.
Because of the outstanding support she has provided during Mr. Trumps visits, Ms. Morales in July was given a certificate from the White House Communications Agency inscribed with her name.
Quite an achievement for an undocumented immigrant housekeeper.
Ms. Moraless journey from cultivating corn in rural Guatemala to fluffing pillows at an exclusive golf resort took her from the southwest border, where she said she crossed illegally in 1999, to the horse country of New Jersey, where she was hired at the Trump property in 2013 with documents she said were phony.
She said she was not the only worker at the club who was in the country illegally.

(26,729 posts)She wasnt undocumented... she had forged documents.
That shifts any culpability from her employer to herself
Id bet that well hear more. Someone wants to use her for political purposes... because this story likely gets her fired.

Damn

(34,062 posts)She has applied for asylum, but know that going public will almost certainly mean she loses her employment, and may also mean she may be deported.
She is choosing to make this public because of the change in how she and her fellow immigrants are being treated as a consequence of the Trump presidency.

(108,976 posts)She says there are lots more like her.
In separate, hourslong interviews in Spanish, Ms. Morales and Ms. Diaz provided detailed accounts of their work at the club and their interactions with management, including Mr. Trump. Both women described the president as demanding but kind, sometimes offering hefty tips.

(26,729 posts)After reading the whole article, it's clear that she already has an attorney and is saying "come and get me" so that they can draw attention to her situation. It's political theater for whoever is funding the attorney.

(8,000 posts)Because they really don't mind hiring those who are "undocumented" as long as they can point to fake docs to absolve themselves from responsibility. E-verify should be required. It's easy.

(8,911 posts)they can pay them cheaply!!!

(8,000 posts)If there were false IDs, false SS#, and other fake documents, then how do they pay them and what do they do with the taxes they take out? I've never had that experience, but I have had my payroll taxes questioned when something wasn't just quite right. I think they may well be doing something with the withholding, FICA, even the unemployment taxes because all those require names and SS#. Maybe they're paying them as subcontractors, but that won't fly under any scrutiny.

(8,911 posts)They're cheap.
Both the employee and the employer!!!
The employee is cheap because they'll take anything they can get, for fear of deportation.
The employer, well, that's IQ45. And we all know that's one cheap scamming, grifting bastard.

She's toast now. I doubt his base would approve, especially when there are so many people collecting food stamps who can do that job.

Sickening hypocrisy.
