A New York judge ordered Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller on Thursday to provide sentencing memos for Michael Cohen by 5 p.m. Friday.
U.S. District Judge William Pauley said the filings should be delivered by hand rather than electronically to his chambers in Manhattan.
Cohen, President Donald Trump's former personal lawyer and self-described fixer, is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 12. He has asked for no prison time because of his cooperation with Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
The cases involve Cohen's guilty pleas to paying six-figure hush-money to Trump's alleged mistresses and to lying to Congress about the president's plans for a Trump Tower in Moscow that extended into the campaign.

(3,344 posts)5 PM is better than 8 or 9 PM.
But if he delivers it by hand we may not get to see it at that time.

(31,106 posts)WE DONT get to see it or something?
I need to know there is not a rightwing piece of shit with a robe obstructing justice. Or that this one isnt, we know almost all appointed by rump will do that at some point.

Cohen's sentencing is scheduled for December 12 (next Tuesday). Cohen has submitted his sentencing memo asking for no jail time. The ball is in Mueller's court to submit the prosecution's sentencing memo, which might agree with Cohen (unlikely I think), suggest less time than the sentencing guidelines recommend or an amount of jail time at the low end of the guidelines (probably I think) or more time than the guidelines (or a sentence at the high end of the guidelines (unlikely I think).
Just as Cohen's sentencing memo was public, so too will be Mueller's, although it might contain redactions of sensitive investigatory information.
Relax. Breathe. There's nothing nefarious here.

(31,106 posts)And if nothing to see here why in the world would it be reported as if it was a STORY...that is the part that is annoying.
OF COURSE anyone paying attention ASSUMES something nefarious when we get information like this without background.
When I stop reacting like this, I have given up!
Our nerves are frayed, we are on pins and needles. Seems this was not a story, did not need to be reported or if reported SHOULD have made these things clear, it did not, that is frustrating.
A foreign enemy invaded my country, installed a violent criminal who occupies my WH, I am going to assume BAD when I see shit like this unless they make it clear otherwise. GRRRR
Cut back on the coffee? Shit, I had not had a cup of coffee, mocha, nothing for 5 years or more then a few months ago I was finding it harder and harder to get thru the day, you know, because a traitor was destroying my country, so I started on the mochas again, and now my dental hygienist says I need to brush after drinking the mocha, plaque, sugar, etc.

(42,598 posts)Cohen entered a guilty plea per an agreement with Mueller. Now comes the sentencing, scheduled for December 12. Each side gets to present its argument to the judge as to what they think the appropriate sentence should be. As part of the plea deal, there was general agreement as to what the sentencing guidelines are for the crimes to which Cohen pleaded guilty, but each side can make their case to the judge for why the sentence should be at the high end, low end, or outside the sentencing guidelines. Cohen presented his memo to the judge last week. Now its Mueller's turn.
That's it. Standard operating procedure in a plea deal. I don't even begin to understand the Nunes reference in your post.
