Plaintiff in Voter ID Lawsuit Gets Temporary ID (PA)

One of the lead plaintiffs in a lawsuit to block Pennsylvania's new Voter ID law has been granted the identification necessary to cast her ballot despite lacking the documentation required to get the card.

Ninety-three-year-old Viviette Applewhite received her temporary identification card on Thursday, the same day her attorneys appealed a judge's ruling upholding the law Applewhite sued over.

Applewhite, of Philadelphia, testified in July that she was unable to get the necessary documents for an ID because she was adopted early in life, so the name on her birth certificate doesn't match her other paperwork.

State officials say PennDOT is committed to working with applicants on a case-by-case basis.

November 5th 2012. Now how did that happen? And yes I'm sure Penn Dot has ample time to go over all your paper work and also run Penn Dot with hundreds of other customers. Pack a lunch. And if some of the closed Penn Dot buildings are still there, they might want to try and open them just for voter registration. Actually, they should use those buildings for the vote too. And use that building to house the votes, and count them.

That is true in Pennsylvania and every other state that has passed voter suppression laws.

She didn't have all the paperwork, but they gave it to her anyway. Why have the law? How many others didn't get the same treatment. They didn't pull a Supreme Court move and say only this ONE time. LOL!
