The Kevin Hart situation got me thinking of something I've noticed recently.
Living in rural S. Central PA - there are surprising amount of gay people - maybe not surprising - but lets just say - way more than ever in our little town.
I guess I've always assumed gay people were liberals and shared liberal views on inclusiveness and race.
I've been really surprised by the racism coming from some of these folks mouths - for sure has turned me off to the degree that I've stopped patronizing certain places I know these folks might be.
It just seems like they are turning on the values that enabled them to accepted and out...
I guess it's symptomatic of living in redneck America?
Maybe the Academy Award people are gay racists?

I would imagine neither would by necessity impact the other.
On edit; I think my earlier comment was based on some historical inaccuracies that have been pretty comprehensively rebutted, and I have withdrawn it.

(32,967 posts)When Ernst Rohms' usefulness to Hitler was over, Goering organized the Knight Of Long Knives.
The wiki article is a good place to start-"the Röhm Purge, also called Operation Hummingbird (German: Unternehmen Kolibri) was a purge that took place in Nazi Germany from June 30 to July 2, 1934, when Adolf Hitler, urged on by Hermann Göring and Heinrich Himmler, carried out a series of political extrajudicial executions intended to consolidate his hold on power in Germany, as well as to alleviate the concerns of the German military about the role of Ernst Röhm and the Sturmabteilung (SA), the Nazis' own mass paramilitary organization. The Holocaust Museum has more info.
German Law, Paragraph 175, created in 1871 was the reason for putting many people in the death camps.
See wiki-Paragraph 175 (known formally as §175 StGB; also known as Section 175 in English) was a provision of the German Criminal Code from 15 May 1871 to 10 March 1994. It made homosexual acts between males a crime.

I know you're not a homophobe, but I did not want there to be no follow up on that historical fact.
There are fetishizations of Nazis & LGBT people for some people current time.
