(146,284 posts)5. While I have zero money in the market, I know that a lot of people
have 401k and other investments. It's painful to watch your balance go down on days like this.
Trump must be very proud of himself...

OilemFirchen
(7,143 posts)8. A correction is 10% off the high.
The DOW's all-time high was 26,828.49, set on 10/3. A correction would be a close of 24145.64.
Today's close was at 24,388.95, or 1% from a correction.

(42,146 posts)9. And if it needs a correction?
Wounded Bear
(58,634 posts)10. It probably does...
the trick will be to let a correction happen without the whole bottom falling out. If the market develops some downward momentum, it could get ugly fast. After so many years of growth, albeit slow, a recession starts to look kind of inevitable.
