Don't shoot me but I thought he was at least part Hipanic. Even if he is, he isn't Dick Cheney "white guy".

4th generation Irish American.

From Wikipedia: His family always called him "Beto", a common Spanish nickname for first names ending in "-berto", initially to distinguish him from his namesake grandfather.

From his name and coloring I thought he was at least a quarter hispanic. Where I'm from Robert is shortened to Rob or Robbie.

As for the Dick Cheney "white guy" comment, Cheney is an old pinkish white war profiteer that made his money on the blood of others and actually shot someone without getting in trouble for it. The other poster used the term "white guy" Cheney is the most extreme version of that that I imagine. Personally I think this idea of eliminating anyone based on their melanin levels is ridiculous. We should be picking the most qualified and best equipped candidate no matter their color. This whole diversity argument is going to split us up into factions that won't do anything but ensure we get a less electable candidate imo.

I know very few people that live here that can say they are straight up anything. Everyone I know "from here" is a melting pot mix up of multiple backgrounds. I'm Dutch and American Indian that I know of. No idea where the rest came from. If I weren't so paranoid I'd do an ancestory dna test.

It is on the Mexican border. The sun shines there 302 days a year. IOW you can't live there your whole life without having some degree of tanned skin. It also has a very high Hispanic and Latino population, which accounts for using Beto as a nick name.

False equivalence is a logical fallacy in which two completely opposing arguments appear to be logically equivalent when in fact they are not. This fallacy is categorized as a fallacy of inconsistency.

If they're thinking about it, then the smartest thing they could do is start preparing a fundraising apparatus, get backers, make contacts in Iowa and New Hampshire, and make sure the press never gets wind of it until a year from now. It's far from likely, but then how seriously did anyone take Donald Trump four years ago?

in Gwinnett county. It was celebratory as we swept the county with democrats. This was thought to be a ridiculous notion just 5 years ago.The only one we missed was Carolyn Bordeaux who lost by 419 votes out of 280,000. The consensus was that Kamala was not dynamic. She is also from California. That is tough to overcome. That would be like Cuomo from NY. NY and CA are not the best places to run for President from.

Kamala doesn't bring the millennials out. Beto is electric to them. Did you see him playing the air drums on the Who song "baba O'reilly.

No one in either party can do that. He made Cruz seem like he was 70 years old and they are the same age.

Also this is probably unfair but can you recall a woman ever delivering a speech or moment where people will run through the proverbial wall.

It is probably conditioning but that is how our society is and it is no time to make a "statement" of gender breaking. It is time to win and crush and Beto is our best chance.
