**Ohio Elections Chief Suspends Democrats From County Board**

The top Ohio elections official, a Republican, has suspended two Democratic elections board members as the state's regular, bitter battles over voting procedures intensify.

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, after setting a uniform standard for early voting hours across the state on Wednesday, is facing a revolt from some Democratic elections board members, who have suggested they will refuse to comply with his new rule.

In response to the move by two Montgomery County Democrats, Husted suspended them this afternoon, writing to Thomas Ritchie Sr. and Dennis Lieberman, "[Y]ou are hereby suspended from acting in any official capacity as a member of the montgomery County Board of Elections." He also set a hearing for Monday on the two men's permanent removal from the board.

On Wednesday, Husted had issued a directive that his office says stopped county boards of elections from allowing weekend early voting hours within their counties, but this morning the Democratic members of the Montgomery County Board of Elections ignored the directive, claiming the directive only set a minimum, and voted to allow it.

This is what happened to partisans in earlier ages who thought they could eliminate the opposition by fiat.

Perhaps it's time to resurrect it. Only this time, to avoid murder charges, we need to use barley malt instead of tar.

The right to vote is not partisan. Everyone should expect, and deserves, an easy and accessible voting experience. Republicans included.

After voting in their own, ofcourse...clog the lines, come without their Voter ID (wouldn't want to illegally vote!).

I use to think a great anti-Walmart protest would be for Union folks to clog the lines at Xmas time buying penny candy.

The voting machines need to be addressed. They force the vote and put their candidates in unless the polls show wide lead for the other candidate. The lawsuit over the machines had a gag order put on it by Bush.

He's prorogued parliament twice and his new restrictions on giving medical care to refugees was done by order in council, which is profoundly undemocratic. It's just different dirty tricks because we have a different system.

He's also given up on medicare and we have a de facto two tier system.

No voter ID required except in Northern Ireland for in person voting early. And getting that electoral ID card is not that hard or costly. There are procedures in place for those people who don't have all the required ID to bypass this. No trip to the DMV necessary, it can be done by mail. No ID needed for postal or proxy voting.

Plus paper ballots are the norm. Polls may end at 10pm but first results come out before midnight and by 4am the next day a general idea of how the vote went is obtained. Some tight races go for *multiple* recounts and is rare in GB for votes to take days. NI is often delayed due to local custom.

I will offer my services as an observer if needs be.

OMG, these Republicans are stealing the Presidential election & voters are being denied their constitutional right to vote. The federal Government, the DOJ, ACLU, & the media have to become more involved w/massive non violent protests from Ohio voters. Internationally, other countries have reported that this election will be stolen again--just like 2000 & 2004. The Republican Governor & other GOP state officials should be cited with contempt.

when you have partisan supreme court wankers with some family members part of the decision process and legal process for little boot's campaign and you stop a very close vote in florida; I'd say the "horse has already left the barn." It wasn't just the confusing butterfly ballots, remember "jews for buchanan"? But, remember when the state under the direction of little boot's brother hired a corporation to form a purge list and then informed them they didn't have to check it twice. I think one on the purge list actually worked in the registrars office (wrong person). And don't forget the intimidation tactics (roadblocks) going to the polls for minority areas.

this country has no right, no right at all to publicly decry any government. "how can you take a splinter out off your brother's eye, when you have a moat in your own?"
