Wisconsin GOP wants one final slam to the people before January...

"Reforming" (translation: eliminating) license requirements for all sorts of jobs, including electricians, plumbers, even nurses!

And WBAY can't find who out who proposed this, or if anyone really is supporting this stupid plan.

Target 2 Investigates: State studies deregulating occupational licenses

MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) - Updated with a statement from a Dept. of Safety and Professional Services spokesman Friday.

With just a month left before Wisconsin swears in a new governor, Scott Walker has the chance to weigh in on a plan causing concern across hundreds of industries in the state.

"I thought, well, I'm a nurse. Why would you ever think to not license me?" Kathie DeMuth said.

But that's exactly what the state is considering, looking at deregulating hundreds of industries, no longer requiring a license to practice everything from medicine to wiring a home.

The state has a December 31 deadline for submitting a plan to the governor to determine whether people who hold an occupational license actually need one.

Those licenses are for services we use every day: doctors, nurses, pharmacists, plumbers, inspectors, accountants. Those are among 240 different professions currently required to be licensed by the state's Department of Safety and Professional Services.

husband too. Lived there until jobs took us to Illinois and then Iowa.

We're both shocked and disgusted by what our home state has become.

Then again, it is happening all over.

Perhaps the Republican party should take a version of an old military recruitment slogan: "Republicans: Be the worst you can be".

where too many chose to sit out the 2010 election and not vote.
Democrats had controlled the entire state government then but that election resulted in it flipping to total Republican control who then proceeded in 2011 to gerrymander the state.
Elections have consequences and we are still suffering the consequences of that election today.

people need to get out and vote. Every time.

I have voted in every election since I turned 18...I don't get why anyone would not vote. It is both a right and a duty.

But meanwhile they want to fuck as many WI citizens as they can. No wonder the Republican party is dying. GOPer's can care less about the USA's citizens if you don't have a substantial income.

Where the hell is Lying Ryan, oh right, he approves this.

that I thought it has to some brand of "trolling." So, I'm guessing that
they want to disengage the "state" from oversight, e.g., discipline of professions,
and want to leave it to the private sector. Of course, this is just begging for a
disaster and puts anyone who depends on licensed professionals in
danger (at least financially - and very likely bodily).

These people proposing such dangerous nonsense need to be sent away
preferably by voting them out - but in any case, they need to go.
And why can't anybody find out who proposed this? Aren't lawmakers
required to attach their names to proposed legislation? They sure as
hell should be.
