Avenatti

I've posted a couple threads here with scant reply about Avenatti proving up.

We were very psyched about him then sadly observed his fall.

He deserves an apology and thanks, and I'm glad to see this getting some attention on twitter!

He is very useful when he’s all over Trump, not so much when one of his clients has to publicly question his methods or when he wants to be president.

And I have nothing to apologize to him for. I don't owe him anything. Nor does he owe me.

It makes a joke out of the presidency.

He has apparently misled Stormy Daniels and perhaps cost her hundreds of thousands of dollars for trump's legal fees in a defamation suit; he owes taxes; he ripped of his law partner; his x-wife just won a big judgement against him; his personal life is deplorable, not unlike trump's; and likely worse.

He and trump are just a little too much alike for me.

How that poor deluded man got from "I'm suing the president" to "I should run for president" is beyond me. That's the same weird sort of egomania that might make him a good trial lawyer, but then might also make him a spousal abuser as well.

Has he ever done anything other than sue people in court? Does he have any record of public service at all?

I'm just saying that if he's smart enough to be president, shouldn't he also be smart enough to know he's completely unqualified to be president?

An attorney who was able to trade barbs with the president, put needed pressure on the president, but who was not able himself to withstand the scrutiny gained by that attention. That is likely why your posts have received scant reply and why Avenatti was likely never to last long as a prominent figure in the spotlight. No apology is necessary as Avenatti has received much of what he wanted by engaging with the public in the way he did.

Avenatti was compensated greatly with attention and praise for his positive acts and with notoriety. His issues with taxes and with his law firm were bound to come up and while his issues with domestic violence appear to have been contrived, that was not set in motion by Democrats nor by anyone here at DU so again, no apology needed. That Avenatti was assumed to have engaged in the behavior he was accused of by some at DU, while irritating, was not beyond the pale. People may jump the gun on judgement but given Avenatti's aggressive nature it was not something that would be totally beyond his character

Avenatti came out swinging and a lot of people liked and still like him for that. He, however, like many, seemed to have loved the attention way too much and that turned a lot of people off.

I appreciated his work for Stormy and other causes. He really messed up Trump/Cohen - got them a ton of bad publicity
He has a pretty good track record on what he said being true.
He's been a great attack dog for Democrats
Others pressed him into looking at 2020

On the other side:
He got caught up in the media whirlwind
His firm's bankruptcy is a burden he has to work through including eviction from his offices and a $4.5 million personal guarantee ordered by the judge
He faces a potential misdemeanor for the alleged domestic assault
He'll probably face a lawsuit for the alleged domestic assault
He just settled his second divorce for millions of dollars which a lot of folks will have a hard time sympathizing or identifying with

He has no meaningful experience in governing and that should disqualify from running for President. From the above, all he said was he would evaluate 2020. He did and wisely decided that he is not going to be a candidate.

I do not see anything there leaving people owing him an apology.
