"Yes, if I don't get my way I will shut down the government"

Someone should isolate this clip and run it as a commercial on all tv networks between now and january 3. When his supporters don’t get their social security checks they will know who to blame. Proverbial “out of the horses mouth” in real time.

a government shutdown is not what you think it is. Essential functions of the government keep going (although government workerrs won't get paid until after the shutdown ends). Those functions include getting social security payments out, along with the military, DHS, and other departments.
