I cannot put into words my reason for posting this picture...

except to say that this image popped into my head after watching Nancy Pelosi eat Trump's lunch today.

This compelling picture of Hillary taken around 9/11 is a favorite of mine, as it shows an individual who has real strength, real concern, real intelligence. Back before the days of MAGA. Back before the days of constant unceasing bullshit bombarding our minds every minute. Back in the time when the country as a whole had a reasonable chance of determining what is the truth and what is a lie.

Nancy Pelosi's strength today made me remember this picture...if that makes any sense at all. I know I'm not expressing myself well here, but that's what it is.

Doing her job with devotion as always. After the attack I think she was instrumental in passing legislation to protect the First Responders’ health for the rest of their lives.

She was reviled by half the country from the start, even though she overwhelmingly won her Senate seat in NYC, she was thought to be getting a "free ride" off of Bill Clinton's coat tails and no one thought she was deserving of the seat (even though she was herself a lawyer and fully qualified for the seat).

Also, sexism.

I think I understand why you posted it...

You saw a strong woman today, confronting the tRump. And then you remembered where you'd seen strength like that before...

Here, in this photo, you saw it.

What we have lost. But we'll have it again, down the road.

Trump was "watching thousands of Muslims celebrating" in New Jersey, and bragging (wrongly) how his building was now the tallest in NYC. And thus began the shit-show that plagues us now. What a dichotomy.

Just as aside: both she and Franken - well known - quietly took their seats and stayed away from the the headlines. Except here, of course.

In contrast to newer Young Turks, they sat in the back, took notes and learned the way Congress works.

But I guess she didn't hold enough rallies in Michigan so that doesn't count.

Which years later finally became The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. She was always a woman of incredible strength, you can see it in her face then and now. Was so proud of her when she was my Senator. She will always be President Hillary Clinton to me.
