(3,304 posts)An acquaintance of mine spent just about the same amount of time that Cohen was sentenced to in the same federal prison that Blagojevich is in - FCI in Englewood, CO. You are right. It is not easy.
Even if he was in some sort of luxury prison, it's a terrible thing to be locked away from your family. Life events happen while you're in. Deaths happen while you're in. I don't feel a bit sorry for Cohen, but, as you said, it's not going to be easy for him.
Now, if we get to see a whole lotta Trumps get this kind of punishment, I will be pleased.

(488 posts)It's right off Hwy 285 and Kipling.
About a 25 minute drive, and it's across the street from two different schools.
I've done fed time myself, in FCI Texarkana in Texarkana, TX, even though I requested Englewood to stay close to my family.
Fortunately my time there was short, just under 3 months for violation of probation, and I finished everything right there.
Been a good citizen for 16 years since then.

(488 posts)State charges, and he's heading to Otisville Prison, while his federal charges are pending via Mueller.
When that drops, he'll be transferred out of his cozy prison, he'll be transferred to a federal prison camp somewhere in Texas or Oklahoma. No more comforts.

(34,661 posts)certain person's,he most likely will be subject to Van Therapy and that ain't pretty. It will not be easy for Cohen,he will most likely be a Target because of his associations.

(6,623 posts)... as well as a state prison. This sentencing was in federal court, so I would assume he's headed to the former.

(10,749 posts)Okay, Club Fed notwithstanding, he's still in prison. Yes, many minor drug convictions result in longer sentences in tougher prisons. That sucks, and should be changed. But, still, 3 years in prison is 3 years in prison, and he still has to cooperate with Mueller and others, and that cooperation may very well result in indictments against the buffoon-in-chief.
I doubt that I could do 3 years in prison. Sure, Cohen's a sleaze. No question. And maybe he did deserve more time. But Seth Abramson made a good point about this sentence, and how it added up based on the counts against him, being used against the buffoon's children.
That being said, if Flynn gets only 3 years, I'll be outraged. That MF screamed Lock Her Up far too many times. That MF deserves a decade or more, with the caveat that he serve every single fucking day. Sure, he'd be in a federal prison, but I want to see him in the worst of the kind in that category. Leavenworth?

(8,445 posts)I agree that he deserves to be locked up.
If I were Cohen, I'd be more worried about my family than about myself having to go to prison. Individual 1 is a vindictive SOB. I would put nothing past him.
