Or that they actually have equity in those properties? My guess is that the leverage is so high, that after selling them off, the banks will still come up short on the loan.

Other Peoples Money

They survive on smoke, mirrors and debt. An enourmous amount of their net worth is based on their brand, which has become worthless to the point that residents sue to have the Trump name removed from their buildings.

This is about more than Trump and his grifter network and family. He is a symptom of the deep rot in the Republican party, the evangelical Christian community and the oligarchs who fund them. Removal from office is not enough. I want him and his family in prison as well as others who accepted millions from Russia like Mitch McConnell. PRISON PRISON PRISON

I am not a vengeful person. But I do believe in the truth of karma. Many of his, and family's crimes will be exposed. There will be ambitious prosecutors, who would love to get him in court and convict. It may be necessary to make an object lesson of him and his family and cronies about corrupting our government. So I guess if conviction would serve the greater good, then I'm for it.

He should, and so should his whole family. But I would say the odds are that he works out a deal with no jail time.

How many times in the past have we seen wealthy and/or powerful white criminals get off with no or little jail time? Nixon's resignation was pretty much a deal in which the repubs in power told him to do it before he was impeached, and then later Ford pardoned him for his crimes. Agnew was as dirty as they come but he got off. You think dump won't threaten to take down the whole country with him in order to get out of this mess? And that the powers in Washington won't go along with a deal to end this? I think the chances of that happening are greater than him going to jail.

But in the big picture it is more important to get him out of power sooner than later. He is devastating to our Country on so many levels that I would accept a quick exit.

I do have two caveats

One is a full written and videotaped confession and mea culpa to try and neutralize his base and keep him from becoming a martyr.

Second, I want full accountability for the remainder of people who aided and abetted. Too many times in the past we have passed over these assholes and they just come back like a bad penny. Without fail, the same ratfuckers keep popping up a generation later to screw with us again.

“One is a full written and videotaped confession and mea culpa to try and neutralize his base and keep him from becoming a martyr.”

He is constitutionally incapable of admitting fault, and even if he did as you describe, his base would never believe it. They’d say he was forced to say these things, and he was being railroaded. Even a full trial, conviction and jail time would convince only a small percentage of his base.

But those would be my terms.

You will note that I said "try to neutralize his base". I think the reality is that there is a hard core 25% that will never believe it. However, it would solidify the other 75% to go back to treating those people as the pariahs they should be instead of treating them like they have a legitimate argument.

Impeachment and the Senate Trial are going to be a shitshow that won't be healthy for the body politic (in the end, it's probably smart to coddle the feewings of Trump voters, since they're your Dad, your Grampa, your Aunt, your Sister, etc.).

Better he makes a deal with Congressional leadership when the Mueller report is done (I don't think that will be until next Summer), and scurries out of town on 1/20/2021.

On edit: I'll take a resignation before then, of course.

Even though he is brainwashed and won't change his mind and it would sour your relationship with him for the rest of his life.

There's what feels good and there's what's smart. The Dem leadership will choose what's smart. Us libtards can swallow our schadenfreude; we had plenty of practice when Obama let Bush & Cheney off the hook.

Any property they obtained by scrupulous means need to be confiscated. Any financial gain that was illegal such as from hotel property during his time at the WH should be confiscated. All taxes that he illegally failed to pay should be recouped with interest and fines.

And they all need to go to prison.
