David A. Clarke, Jr.
@SheriffClarke
What's happening in France will look like childs play if the deep state tries to undo the 2016 election by MANUFACTURING a way to remove @realDonaldTrump before 2020. They are underestimating the resolve of Trump's supporters. Like in France, people will only put up with so much.

She was thinking in Russian, though:
Мне жаль. Ты мне не нравишься таким образом.

(2,398 posts)..situations like this?
If people try to un-do actions of Congress...like removing Presidents?
Lemme see... maybe... ummm...SWAT teams, National Guard, local police, state police....
And if necessary - as has happened in the past - the US military?

(22,567 posts)or an idle threat. It only would take a small fraction of that number to create some real problems and violence.
For those who actually believe that simply removing Trump from the presidency makes his tens of millions of supporter disappear,
think again.

(10,721 posts)But, beyond holding people accountable for inciting violence, there isn't much we can do in terms of prevention.
Aside from changing our culture, of course. But that takes a lot of time and effort.

(54,358 posts)He is underestimating the resolve of James Madison and the Framers when they wrote the amendments covering the Articles of Impeachment in 1787.
Even if Trump and the Foxsuckers want to don yellow vests and burn cars in the streets, I think they will find that many local police forces in the USA have proved they are only too willing to shoot first and ask questions later, and the Sheriff is the wrong color to expect all cops to hold fire if they see an armed demonstrator. We are not in France any more, Toto.

(10,721 posts)But, yes, they don't stand a chance if they seriously try to take on the "deep state."
DFW
(54,358 posts)I don't think he would be wise to lead an armed rebellion. His life insurance company would cancel his policy pretty quickly, and probably with good reason.
