And secondly, the "fix" was still a hail marry. Nobody could have known for sure if the email dump would result in enough Clinton voters not voting for her in certain States that it would/could change the outcome of the election. Sure, it was the hope, but it was a long shot that needed the perfect storm in specific States to work.

I personally think people are barking up the wrong tree on McConnell. He's just a Republican trying to protect Republicans and doing what his base wants - and they didn't want Obama appointing another justice regardless of who it was.

... He surely knew Russia was playing a big role among others. Stuffing Garland was a no brainer because even if HRC won, she would probably have renominated him simply out of respect. Even if he thought the coup only had a slight chance of getting trump over the top, it was a high reward low risk scenario for him.
