Have Democrats turned the corner with Latino voters?

I hadn't seen this Jennifer Rubin opinion piece from 2 days ago discussed here, sorry if its a duplicate. Turning out Latino voters and young people would go a long way towards taking back the white house...

Democrats had one of their strongest showings in the state of Texas in recent history. To examine the voter breakdown in Texas we analyzed the precinct level returns for the following six counties: Denton, Dallas, El Paso, Harris, Hidalgo, Travis ... which represent 36% of all Texans and an estimated 11 million voters. ...

Precincts with higher percentages of Latino voters preferred O’Rourke over Cruz. ... We estimate that O’Rourke received about 80% of the Latino vote in these 6 counties, compared to Cruz’s 20% share of the Latino vote.

We should be courting these voters now instead of waiting until 2020. We should be educating them now about the policy differences between Democrats and republicans and let them decide which party fits their interest best.

5. I am not sure why the focused on just 6 counties in TX.

It gives an inaccurate result for the state. There are 254 counties in Texas. So they cherry picked 2.3% of the counties to do their analysis. The chart below gives far more accurate numbers.

Or first generation?

The reason that I'm asking is that what I think when people classify "Hispanic voters" they want them to behave in an organized fashion that they can draw an easy conclusion about.

Hispanic means so many things. Latinx means so many things. Even being Mexican means so many things.

Many white people would be surprised by how many Mexican people think of themselves as white, for instance. "How can 'they' vote for Trump? He hates Mexicans!" Well. They don't necessarily think of themselves as the kind of Mexican that Trump hates. And what is worse they may hate those Mexicans too.

To get the "Hispanic" vote we need to be very specific about that voter and go out and get her. Otherwise it's just as silly as expecting to get the..I don't know the "people" vote, because don't "people" know that is what is good for them?

That's why I've always had the attitude of "Welcome Back!" when someone wants to come to the US.
