GOP - About Your Talking Points ...
… there are a lot of them that need to be canned. Given what has been revealed over the past few weeks, we are now watching the Titanic going down – and the old, worn-out phrases of yesteryear just don’t get you a seat on a lifeboat anymore.
Over the past forty-eight hours, I have heard these ol’ chestnuts trotted out by GOP pundits in response to everything from Mueller’s investigation, to Cohen’s sentencing, to Trump participating in the plot to pay hush money to his mistresses:
“He wasn’t even the pResident then …”
“Every politician lies …”
“It was a private matter …”
“It had nothing to do with the campaign …”
“But what about Hillary …”
“The pResident didn’t know …”
“People are ignoring all the good things he’s accomplished …”
“It really doesn’t matter …”
“Some experts say that’s not even a crime …”
“Obama did exactly the same thing …”
“The people really don’t care about that …”
“He’s just, ya know, different …”
“Everyone else is lying …”
You don’t need a bigger boat. What you need is a new boatful of bullshit, ‘cause the same old/same old isn’t cutting it.
It’s time to get some new material. Trust me. With the Democrats taking over the House next month, you’re going to need it.
