Y’all listen to this wild ass shit

So in 2003 I was 5 years old and my mom decided out of thin air one day that we were going to Africa and we were gonna stay there for 6 months so about 4 months in something OC happened that I won’t go into detail about and long story short I had to leave ASAP
9:33 PM - 12 Dec 2018

____It was a life & death type situation so my mom had to get me out but she couldn’t come with me so she had to find someone ASAP in the airport to bring me back to America

____ She started asking all our skin folk (other Africans) on their way to America to bring me but of course everybody had an excuse . So my mom slipped the airline ticket lady at Brussels something and asked who on the flight was coming back to America

____ She pointed her in the direction of the “whet man na corner” (white man in the corner for the afros” and he told my mom he was in no mental state to travel with a minor because he had just lost his grandmother . My mom didn’t know this man at all whatsoever

____ But after explaining how dire the situation was he agreed to bring me a screaming , crying 5 year old he had only met 2 secs ago to America

____ My mom has been trying to find this man for 15 years , we never got his name or anything . So like a week ago my mom found him through a family member who actually worked with him and she said he matched the description and everything

____ My mom emailed him & this man remembered everything 😭 he said he never forgot about me or the songs he was tryna sing in Krio for me to stop me from crying , he had told his family about it and everything . Come to find out he actually worked with the Obama administration

____ And he ran for governor of Virginia in 2017 y’all his name is @tomperriello I know this is a long ass thread and may not seem like much to many but there’s a HUGE possibility I wouldn’t be here today if this man didn’t bring me back over here .

____ Finding him after 15 years is really oc because I thought about it a lot , he didn’t have to help me , he didn’t owe me anything . I’m so so grateful !!!!!!! @tomperriello @tomperriello !

I Googled and found 'of course.'

But in this sentence, what does it mean? "Finding him after 15 years is really oc because I thought about it a lot."

GREAT STORY!!

That you can’t get out of!!! Argh I hate those things.

But I digress....what I was briefly able to see on Urban Dictionary before that damn ad kept hijacking me, said it means Original Character, or Of Course.

Neither of these make sense, so I’m gonna guess it means Off the Chain. Which means something is totally crazy astounding.

Any other ideas?

Some of the slang and Urban Dictionary sites have 15-20 definitions, but this is the most common and makes the most sense in the context of this tweet. But I, too, am just guessing.

I think they didn’t mean to type “oc.”

I think they meant to type “OK”.

Try it.

The kind of story that would make a dramatic and emotionally powerful film. A docudrama where they both could narrrate - she as the leading narrator.

What a great guy Tom Perriello was and is. He missed his connecting flight in Baltimore making sure Maya connected with her grandmother. As a result, missed his own grandmother's funeral. Something tells me his grandmother had a hand in all of this.

I've read a lot of stories on DU, not all of them, but many. By far this is the very best one I've ever read. I agree with another poster; if you need help search out a democrat. I'm here because I love good stories such as this one.

your story is too long at all. A 5 year old girl taken on a plane halfway across the world. That is scary as anything. My heart just skipped a beat. I bet you will not try that again.
