Trump is toast

Trump is toast: This week really was the beginning of the end for the President

He is done. Donald Trump will be forced to resign the presidency before November 2020.

It's always looked like this might be where we were heading. But now it is far easier to believe it’s going to happen. The case against Trump has barreled past the tipping point. And there’s nothing he can do to reverse it.

Let’s break it all down.

He could have lived the rest of his cushy life with most people unaware of his crimes.

But his ego and need for attention drove him to seek a job where your life is constantly under a microscope and now his corruption is being exposed to the world. His downfall is entirely on himself.

if somehow the feds miss him, the newly elected Attorney General for the state of New York will not. She ran on a platform of bringing him and his crew to justice and was elected by a margin of 62 to 36 percent. She's got the power, the resources, and the will of the people behind her.

His brand is worthless, once he's without power no one will ever lend him a dime, he's the laughing stock of the world. Teflon Don's non-stick surface has been terminally compromised. He's taking the family and the GOP down with him.

You can count on it.

I put his chances at 50% or greater, honestly.

I don’t agree Republicans will care. They’re already justifying his crimes before they were proven. Their response will be a simple “so what?”

There will be too much tribalism to have any meaningful conversation. Trump will use the tribalist atmosphere to claim persecution, and it will work to some extent. He doesn’t need to prove his innocence - he only needs to derail any momentum against impeachment.

His poll numbers will not change. Nothing can change his poll numbers at this point. He has a cult following. His cult followers treat him as the only legitimate news source.

Trump won't pull off a near-sweep of the battleground states like he did last time (look no further than the mid-term results in WI, MI, etc.). He won't be facing a candidate who has been the target of hate for 30 years. No last minute announcement by Comey about a media-embellished investigation into our candidate. Trump is no longer new and is now even more hated than he was 2 years ago. And I'm not sure Russia can have the same amount of impact this next time.

The days of a candidate winning 400+ electoral votes are long gone, but I do think a landslide by today's standards may be in the offing. I won't be surprised if our candidate gets in that 350-370 ballpark the way Obama did in 2008.

It ceases to be viable absent those things. I don't think economic conditions have any real impact on Cult45.

I simply think we're going to outnumber the deplorables in enough of the battleground states to win handily in 2020. I think we'll have record-high turnout for Democrats. And I can't imagine Trump winning any of the states Clinton won. Not VA, CO, NV, or any of the rest. MI and PA were blue for 6 straight presidential elections prior to 2016. WI was blue for 7 straight. I think all 3 will come back to their senses in 2020.

I think trump is toast because the republicans have a better chance of keeping the White House by running a victorious Mueller as an ‘Eisenhower candidate. Just as Ike saved us from the Nazis, Mueller saved us from Russia. A republican White House will be their best chance of saving their precious Tax Bill. It’s always been about that tax cut for the rich.

Nixon had not been proactive enough to steal the Supreme Court and to seed all the other courts with with RW oligarch types.

Nixon did not have a rabidly supportive base that has a cult-like fixation of loyalty to Trump.

In other words, we still had a functioning 3-branch government but it's disintegrating now, Not at all sure how this will play out.

That will in no way improve our situation. If they don't both go at the same time, our lot will not have improved any. They will forget from one day to the next that there ever was anyone named Donald Trump, and go about their extremist right wing agenda with a fervor that will make the last two years seem like a rehearsal (which they will might tun out to have been).

The new NY AG is going to put the hurts on the Trump crime family. This could take 10 - 15 years but what money Trump has is going to be a lot less, whether he goes to jail or not. Trump without money would be the same as his being in jail. He can't get a loan from any banks for a reason.

Up to this point, the majority of Republicans in office have stuck with Trump and propped him up or turned a blind eye. Including those Rs who’ve done nothing more than remain silent these past two years. None of them have taken any serious steps to speak out against the wall-to-wall blatent lying, corruption, nepotism, profiteering, not to mention mind-boggling mismanagement of funds and a disinformation campaign that would be the envy of Joseph Goebbels.

As long as the Republican Party decides it wants to keep taking it out on America and democracy, Trump will stand right where he is now: embattled and bruised, but to what extent? For the good of the country, the GOP must decide that their “stable genius” should be let go, and let the law of the land take its course. But will they?

For all the take-the-offensive strategies the incoming congressional Democrats might employ, please do whatever’s necessary to convince the GOP to spring the trap-door beneath their delusional, law-breaking figurehead (who’s currently posing as a fascist American president).

They are in safe, gerrymandered districts. The Senate is the key. I expect a lot of nasty stuff is going to come out yet from Mueller and from the FBI in numerous states. Republican senators are going to have to make a decision whether clinging to Trump will get them reelected or not. Remember, Senators are elected state wide.

I don't expect Republican senators to do the right thing for the country, I expect they will do the right thing to get them reelected. It will be up to Republicans in the Senate to decide.
