I just assumed he was returning to the House of Representatives.
His term ends January 3rd

(115,584 posts)House members have to run every two years, and obviously he couldn't have run to keep his old House seat at the same time he was running for the Senate.

(115,584 posts)(and Texas' constitution does hold that you automatically resign from most state offices if you run for something else), you still have to have separate campaigns and comply with separate fund-raising, filing and other rules for each office, and Beto didn't do that. Considering how much he spent on the just Senate race it would have been insane to even try.

Beto O'Rourke visited every single district in the state of Texas, many of them several times.Texas is 268,580 square miles. He spoke. He listened. He hung out. He met hundreds of thousands of Texans. He did this for almost two years. What he did was superhuman. We should all be humbled.
