"SNIP....

“Theresa May is being urged to give her MPs free rein to vote for a second referendum, with a new group of ministers poised to back another public ballot on Brexit,” the Guardian reports.

“Cabinet ministers are making fresh pleas for a new approach after the prime minister’s bleakest week in office, which has left her authority seriously damaged and led some Tory MPs to fear it will become impossible for her to govern.”

.....SNIP"

might she want to force? Do you think she is against leaving and wants to stay, so wants to give folks a chance to vote again to remain?

She reached a Brexit deal with the EU, where they leave the EU. But so far the Parliament doesn't want to pass it.

I think she's running out the clock to force a choice between her Brexit deal and a "no deal Brexit".

She was a "remain" supporter in the Referendum. Today however, her worry is that shifting position from the results of the referendum would destroy her (and the Tories) political power.

The reasoning is that it would be preferable to "No Deal Brexit." I think she underestimates Corbyn's stubbornness and her own party's views on a deal.

I guess I'm too far away from the issue to understand how easy it is for the UK to shoot itself in the foot. Brexit was always a stupid idea that was pushed by an enemy of free societies-Putin's Russia.

The situation on the ground has changed. Brexit isn't as easy as its proponents said. The people should be kept informed (as they have been) and should be allowed to change their decision at will.

And the people don't even have to change their minds. THIS time, they all have to do is VOTE their minds. If they had done that the first time, instead of not taking the referendum seriously and staying home, the whole mess would have been avoided in the first place.

... but I think she is going to make a deal with Labour. A 2nd referendum will end up happening. If the vote is remain Article 50 will be canceled. If the vote is leave again Labour will give her the votes needed to pass her Brexit deal.

I have never thought the EU was all that great of an idea because it seemed unsustainable economically (unpopular opinion, I know), but the UK leaving it for ill-considered reasons, and the way it's been handled, are and have been fantastically dumb.

I thought there were some serious problems with Brussels. There are elements of the EU that are undemocratic and there are some other legitimate grievances.

And it's weird to see a Red Sox fan talking sense.

I'm sure that must be strange.

Glad to hear someone who certainly knows more than me about the EU has a similar take. Of course, none of those issues with the EU justified Brexit or the idiotic way in which it was handled, apparently with (of course!) Russian interference.
