Politico:Mulvaney has developed a good relationship with the Trump over time enough so that the president named him acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau when the post became vacant. White House aides say he is unlikely to attempt to reform the presidents habits of spending much of his time watching television and tweeting, or to curtail the influence of Trumps daughter and son-in-law, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, on the policymaking process.
Instead, Mulvaney is expected to get Trump on the road as much as possible heading into his reelection campaign, capitalizing on the presidents love of campaign rallies while trying to sprinkle into the events as much policy talk on taxes and regulation as he can.

(2,807 posts)I mean he doesn't do anything as President. He doesn't lead, or set policy, or develop legislation.
All he does is Tweet, watch TV, and a couple times a week tell everybody how great he is.
Rallies are all he does. All he like to do.
It's all he's got.

(32,634 posts)This "re-election campaign" scam could be in trouble if Pootie doesn't kick in millions of dollars. Anybody think of that? The only reason Trump would want to do it is if the Trump Org. can make money off it.

They don't mix Russian and Saudi laundry, do they?

(32,634 posts)... the one that he got sued over because he was using unfair advantage in competition with the other hotels in DC. Probably the Russians and Saudis spend more money there than anybody.

(9,350 posts)I think they are just using Donald Trump's ego to get him out of the way. Mulvaney and others probably want to get Trump out of the White House so they can go about the business of running the country. How much influence or impact on the daily workings of the White House will Jared and Ivanka Kushner have if the President is on the road most of the time? It is possible that Mulvaney figured out what John Kelly could never figure out. The key to getting the White House to work is not keeping certain people out of the Oval Office when Trump is in the Oval Office; the key is keeping Trump out of the Oval Office.
