(56,828 posts)that could challenge a Marcia Blackburn type that will likely be replacing him? Any celebs that are Democrats? Dolly Parton?
Bredesen seemed like a great candidate, but faded over the last month to six weeks against Blackburn.

(56,828 posts)but, tanked as a senate candidate. I think TN and a few other bright red states are ones where we might want to take a chance with a celebrity candidate to see if they can at least make it close and force Republicans to spend money there.
I looked - both Hill and McGraw are 51 years old, and Dolly is 72. So, they have the advantage of youth.

(13,340 posts)... I think Bredesen faltered partly becuase he was tryig to be too much of a Republican-light. Same with Joe Donelly.
and when he said he would have voted for Kavanaugh and some progressive organizations pulled out after that, it sealed his fate, I think. Those organizations are the ones that would have gotten students and city voters to turn out in bigger numbers.
Proud Liberal Dem
(24,402 posts)He would've done better to keep that to himself, especially since he wasn't going to be voting on him anyway.

Blackburn's approval rating were terrible and in a normal state she wouldn't have a chance at winning.
This is a hard repub state with high tRump approval ratings.

I can't see a Dem winning in this state, but I'll be happy to be wrong.
