I'd throw the book at him. The guy has sucked of the public tit for decades and has violated his oath to us. It would also send a message to other so-called "cooperating" witnesses.

(8,921 posts)He must have given up something really huge to avoid a long prison sentence because he really deserves it. If I were judge I would honor his deal for 0-6 months by giving him the full 6 months, starting today, and have him led off in shackles like the disgrace he is. He is a traitor.

(31,011 posts)I'm not a fan of doing the tRump thing and trashing witnesses that are cooperating. I'm a fan of doing what needs to be done to get the bigger fish.
Sometimes it means being nice to those on the lower rung of the ladder to get to someone at the top. I'm for that.
That's how a lot of this investigation has gotten done. As much as I want to cheer the judge for his statements to Flynn, I also recognize that it could potentially do damage to a federal investigation of tRump. If those cooperating thinks they're going to prison no matter what, why should they cooperate?
I'm for getting tRump, even if it means letting the smaller fish walk.

(7,534 posts)I don't believe there is any particular legal obligation for military top brass to bring a court-martial against him, but at the very least his action of lying to the FBI constitutes a violation of Article 133 Conduct Unbecoming an Officer and many have lost their rank and pensions for much lesser offenses. His retired status may exempt him from military charges. If he has maintained reserve duty status I would think he could be prosecuted.
