New Survey Finds Kamala Harris Has Big Support For A Presidential Run From Top Democratic WoC

A national survey of women of color political organizers, activists, donors, and party leaders shows Sen. Kamala Harris as an overwhelming early favorite of the group ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
The survey results, provided to BuzzFeed News by She the People, a new network advocating for women of color in politics, show a majority of respondents — 71.1% — includes Harris in their top three choices for president, if she decides to run.

The second most popular candidate was Rep. Beto O’Rourke, whose closer-than-expected Senate race against Ted Cruz in Texas this year has propelled him into the national spotlight. O’Rourke was a top three choice for 38.3% of respondents, followed by Joe Biden for 25%, Sen. Cory Booker for 24.2%, Sen. Elizabeth Warren for 22.3%, Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams for 15.2%, and Sen. Bernie Sanders for 12.1%.

Women of color are a key voting demographic for the Democratic Party in elections across the country, and consistently turn out to vote at high rates. In Southern primaries, including early states like South Carolina, black women compose a large portion of the electorate and helped secure the nomination for Hillary Clinton over Sanders in 2016.

“Women of color, as a voting bloc, are the backbone of the Democratic Party and we’re really leading the way with these issues, and we’ve shown that we can get behind candidates of different genders and different races and really affect an election,” Allison said. “But now we’re demanding way more from the candidates. They need to speak directly to us, and anything short just isn’t going to cut it.”

She and Beto would make a good team. So would she and Chris Murphy, my CT senator (I like the west coast/east coast vibe). But Beto might just be better. He brings the youth vibe and I like that.

It's not a disqualifier.

https://www.vox.com/2017/12/7/16742442/female-senators-al-franken-resigns

About half of the 21 women in the Senate posted messages on social media urging Franken to resign (13 were Democrats, one was a Republican).

Later, you said this:

Listen if Harris and the others can’t take my criticism of what I feel is a complete capitulation to the Republican smear campaign, then she’s not a very strong candidate. So either way, she’s not my choice. Ever.

So you made it very simple.

issue. I did this because it is just poison here. I know of no other place on the web that I visit where I see this obsessed over. Certainly not in my real life.

What I found was that every single Democratic Senator except for five told him to resign in public or private. Klobuchar in private, for example.

3 of those do not even count as they were on the Ethics Committee snd thus couldnt say anything, even in private (Coons, Schatz, Shaheen). I am sure they would have joined with the rest and called for him to step down.

Bob Menendez was still in a federal corruption fight, and chose to not say anything. Again, I am sure he would have joined all the rest.

That leaves one. The ONLY one who actually ended up supporting Al and telling him to not resign was Joe Manchin.

All the rest told him to go or 4 said nothing due to legalities.

44 out of 49 said he should go, and pretty much 48 out of 49 Democratic Senators gave him no support.

Also, Gillibrand was far from the gangleader, as she is painted as. Multiple women Senators met for weeks, planning what to do. Schumer was aware, and did nothing to stop them.

Gillibrand gets shit on so hard because here tweet/statement was 15 minutes or so before anyone else's.

Major revisionism has made this whole thing crazy and so so divisive. It hurts us badly, IMHO.

Good article here

Female Democratic senators coordinated a wave of calls for resignation

https://www.cnn.com/2017/12/06/politics/senators-al-franken-resignation/index.html

Nearly three weeks after sexual harassment allegations first emerged against Sen. Al Franken, a wave of Democratic senators — in coordination and following a flurry of text messages and phone calls — called for his resignation in rapid succession Wednesday morning.

Starting around 11:30 a.m. ET, the senators posted statements in a coordinated effort, one after the other, on social media, saying the Minnesota Democrat should step down.

Some comments were elaborate, lengthy and loaded with a moral message. Others, like that of Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri, were straight to the point.

"Al Franken should resign," she simply tweeted.

Within the next 90 minutes, 16 Democrats -- 10 of them women -- and one Republican senator -- Susan Collins of Maine -- had publicly urged their colleague to vacate his seat.

Every day he held onto his seat was a day he was pulling focus from the midterms. Kneecapping him was the smart call. 2020 will be about the survival of the republic; Sen. Wandering Hands (D-MN) can bugger off and write his memoirs.

Wandering hands? Geez. Make it more than it is. Besides how do you know? He has no ethics investigation. Nothing was proven.

Now you’ll pull out the hackneyed “ He resigned.

No, he requested an ethics investigation that those senators would not respect.
And even then he said his memory of the events were not the same.

Listen if Harris and the others can’t take my criticism of what I feel is a complete capitulation to the Republican smear campaign, then she’s not a very strong candidate. So either way, she’s not my choice. Ever.
Edited to add: Not my choice. I will vote for the Dem nominee.

He groped women, 8 came forward. That's on him. I'm tired of the misogyny on the left. Franked could have stopped this along time ago, instead he lets women get blamed for what he did. This needs to stop. You want to blame someone for Franken being "railroaded," blame him. He chose to grope women. He chose to leave. He chose to not let the investigation to go forward. HE CHOSE. It is not any woman's fault for what Franken CHOSE. Now stop blaming women, stop the MISOGYNY.

Harris, Biden, Beto, Klochabar, Abrams all would be outstanding for the top of the ticket!! And a much deeper bench for for VP including all those mentioned as well as Gillim, Castro, Hickenlopper, Landrieu, Brown, Feingold, Newsom et al.... (But most likely ticket will be 2 of the first ones mentioned)

Dems are DEEP for 2020!!
