at that point, they would have stopped putting money in and distributed whatever was left to some legitimate charity or something that might help their image.

instead, even with everything they knew about it and the knowledge of investigations all over the place, they still thought it best to hold on to the money, just in case the whole investigation thing blows over and they can go back to grifting and use the $1.7 million for something that they can't do while investigators are all over the place.

I’ve always believed that Trump has been flat broke for years. His “wealth” has all been on paper and was really just an illusion created and perpetuated through an elaborate shell game. He saw his presidential campaign as an opportunity to regain his financial footing and set himself up to make some big money in the future. When he stumbled into victory, he realized there was some SERIOUS money to be made and he’s been working every angle he can like crazy ever since.
