Maybe Judge Emett Sullivan casually used the word treason because the redacted material suggested that Flynn was working with Trump to help Turkey and Russia carve up Syria, which would give aid and comfort to ISIS, our ENEMY. Note Trumps sudden withdrawal from Syria today.

Does the name ERIC PRINCE ring any bells with you? You know -- Eric Prince as in the founder of Blackwater. As in brother to Betsy DeVos, Sec of Education. As in the guy who, earlier this year, proposed that he be paid $5 billion for a contract to develop a private, non-government intelligence service.
Remember him?
Okay, now, guess who will replace US military forces in Syria.
BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(82,849 posts)That means an appropriation and a slot in the budget. Trump thinks he can just shuffle money around like he does with his business and charity schemes, but the federal budget doesn't work like that. Congress decides how the money gets allocated and spent, and the folks taking over the place come January 3 aren't real amenable to the idea of paying more of Eric's mercenaries, especially after one of them just got convicted of murder.

(64,959 posts)I saw little criticism of the substance of what the judge said. The criticism seemed more directed at the appropriateness of a judge opining in that way.

(31,962 posts)According to the transcripts he said "I've never presided over a treasonous offense and couldn't tell you what the elements are anyway."

(64,959 posts)And of course, he knows what treason is. It's specifically spelled out in the constitution.
You said he walked it back. I agree with that. I don't agree that the reason is anything other than he overstepped his place in these proceedings.
