Agriculture secretary: Trump is restoring the 'dignity' of hungry people by taking away food stamps

DAVID EDWARDS 20 DEC 2018 AT 10:59 ET

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue insisted on Thursday that the Trump administration was helping to restore the “dignity” of hungry people by withholding food stamps if they cannot find a job.

The Trump administration announced this week that it was toughening the requirements for welfare benefits in areas with high unemployment. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) already requires beneficiaries to work, but states are able to obtain waivers to the rule. Under the Trump administration’s proposed changes, those waivers would be reduced by 75 percent.

Then he would no longer have to employ those that are undocumented nor apply for foreign worker visas.

If correct, it says quite a lot about the likes of both Dear Leader, and his cohorts such as the Koch Brothers, doesn't it?

throwing people in the deep end before teaching them to swim.
Does anyone have an opinion as to how to break the cycle of generational poverty? People raised in homes where the parents and grand parents have never had steady work? Where people live in communities where most of the people live in poverty and they are surrounded by drugs and violence. These communities have dismal graduation rates and teachers are starved for funding. This situation is an issue in both rural and urban communities. How do we deal with these issues as a society?
