Why would they? Donald is on the ropes at the moment and not in much of a position to make demands. Anyway, Republicans are in control of Congress, so the more prudent strategy for Democrats is to just let the Republicans twist in the wind and deal with it. Trump is ultimately their problem.

They've got what....a day left in session, and when they come back, they're in charge?

They can say no now, and they can say no in January. Nothing really changes for them. They've got the high ground.
