Richard Engel told by mil officials: wheels off the track, too many sr officers self-interested

Engel tweeted this a few minutes ago:

US mil officials im talking to are seriously worried after mattis, and by the way things are going. They feel the wheels are off the track, and that too many selfinterested sr mil officers are unwilling to make a stand.

who don't have Mattis's conscience and integrity, and who will see this time as an opportunity to further their careers if other officers aren't willing to go along with Trump's insane whims, authoritarian tendencies, and treasonous statements and actions.

the officer ranks are always padding their resume for their civilian follow up position.

Maybe, the lower officer ranks might care about those young people but I'm happy my kids got out of the service in time.

10. In 50s-60s some engineering students said whoever ran the world they would always have a job!!

I heard this as an undergrad and as a grad student (2 different universities).

In fact, this was a reason they were studying engineering.

When I was in jr high and high school in the 50s, we were constantly being told that there was a major shortage of engineers in the US. So everyone (no girls need apply, of course!) should consider engineering as a possibility.

13. My thoughts exactly. Whats next, the rank of Field Marshall? Or perhaps a purge of the generals?
