...already named after prominent Americans:

I-190, Kennedy
I-290, Eisenhower, the "Ike"
I-55, Stevenson

I see that I-57 is still unnamed. How about the "Obama", or to needle the right wing assholes, the "Barry"???

to build a new Interstate highway from Kansas City to Chicago, and to name it for Pres. Obama. Since I-35 runs from the Mexican border to the Canadian border, passing through Kansas City, and is designated as a NAFTA highway, Chicago (BHO's home city) would benefit greatly from a direct highway connecting to I-35 from the south; Kansas City is the most logical choice (to me).

I took a picture of a sign bearing the name because I thought it was so cringe worthy. And to think I'm originally from Arlington!

Los Angeles approves changing name of Rodeo Road to Obama Boulevard 8-29-2018

The Los Angeles City Council voted 15-0 Wednesday to rename Rodeo Road as Obama Boulevard in honor of former President Barack Obama.

“We’re thrilled that Angelenos and visitors will forever be reminded of the legacy of President @BarackObama when traveling across L.A.,” Mayor Eric Garcetti tweeted after the vote.

City Council President Herb Wesson proposed the name change last year and noted that then-candidate Obama held a campaign rally at Rancho Cienega Recreation Center on Rodeo Road in 2007. The 3.5-mile street runs from near the Culver City border east to Mid-City and is not to be confused with upscale Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

The street is in Wesson’s council district and his motion mentioned it is home to “president’s row,” a series of streets named after former presidents which includes Washington Boulevard, Adams Boulevard and Jefferson Boulevard.

“President Obama is no stranger to Los Angeles. He began his college education in Los Angeles, as an undergraduate student at Occidental College from 1979 to 1981 before leaving for Columbia University,” the motion stated.

It's the 134 freeway. I knew the legislature had approved it, and private funds were raised for actually putting up the sign. I was wondering when it was finally going up. I fully expect that some nutcase will deface it at some point.
